Christmas is around the corner much to dismay for some of us struggling writers.  It’s hard to find unique and reasonably priced gifts that fit our budget.  For this post, I’ve partnered with Uncommon Goods.  Uncommon Goods is an awesome site that offers unique gifts crafted by artisans from all over.  They are an American company that works with designers and creators from all over the world to bring distinctive pieces, jewelry, crafts, and other cool gifts to us, the consumer, at the click of a button.

The site is easy to use and setup in categories.  So you can look for gifts for him, her, the kids, the dog and your Aunt Sally in Nunavut.

Why this site?  As well as offering a fantastic selection of beautifully crafted items, the company also prides themselves on being socially and environmentally responsible.  They try to create a positive work environment for their staff as well as reducing carbon footprints, utilizing recycled materials where possible.  This is the future of business and shopping if you ask me.

I see so many things I would love to have or to give others.  The products are exceptionally cool.  The first things I’m looking for are gifts for my fiancee.  Like this stunning piece, the Amethyst Geode necklace set in 14k gold.  Each piece is handmade and contains an actual slice of geode.  The amethyst is also known as nature’s “calmer”.  We all want calmer partners.  Happy Wife, Happy Life.

I’ve also picked out this luxurious 100% silk Vintage Silk Sari Wrap.  We both love vintage fashion and this red scarf would look stunning against her dark hair and green eyes.  These pieces are handmade by women in India.  For more gifts to make your special lady happy, click here.

Another great gift idea, is to get something personal to commemorate your love.  Women love that stuff.  This caught my eye.  The Personalized Constellation of Love which maps the night sky on the specific date you fell in love, or any date of significance, using computer software.  It’s also personalized with your names and the date.

Other people on my shopping list include friends.  Most of my friends have dogs but no kids.  I found these adorable Pedigree Poem Mugs.  You get a set of 2 with the dog breed of your choice complete with an accompanying poem.  In case anyone is asking, I have a miniature dachshund.

Now if you are like me, on a tight tight budget and have to pick up a few gifts without breaking your bank.  Check out some of these awesome gift ideas.  Like this Salsa Grow Kit.  It contains all the seeds and starter soil you need to grow your own Roma tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, scallions, beefsteak and verde tomatoes.  In no time, your friends will be enjoying their own fresh grown salsa.  Who doesn’t love salsa?  Crazy people; that’s who.  They even have a “Cocktail Grow Kit” and a “Pizza grow Kit”.

Keeping with the food theme.  You can’t go wrong with food or things that help you eat food.  For example, my fiancee is a HUGE pizza freak.  She makes her own a few times a week.  Her desktop on her computer and phone, is pizza.  I’m going to have to get this Pizza Cutter and Server in-One tool.  It’s stainless steel.  “Turn on side to cut a slice and flip and grip to serve.”  Yeah that’s a must have.  It will get used a lot.  For other great little gift ideas that won’t break your bank click here
